Sup, Muscles?

More Feelings (EP)

“Sup, Muscles?” is a female fronted Screamo/Emo collective from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, founded back in 2012.

I don’t know why, but for me listening to their 5 song EP “More Feelings” feels like coming home. Even if I just stumbled upon the band from the Keystone State a few days ago, their sound seems to be familiar to me. Twinkly Emo parts are combined with Screamo and even hints of Jazz. The conventional instruments perfectly interact with the saxophone and the Glockenspiel while the vocals change from clean to rough, sometimes in two parts. All of this results in a sophisticated overall package.

Since each track on “More Feelings” apparently tops its forerunner, the EP culminates with the last track, named “Something About Ghosts”. This song is packed with emotions, carried by twinkly guitar riffs. The beautiful vocals in two parts are standing out on this one, adding the certain something. This is screamo at its best.

“I see you but you don't know I'm there
I may as well be gone
You can't break me down
because I'm already dead

I am a ghost
You're the living”

facility – the first four

Facility is a screamo/crust collective founded back in the fall of 2014. Their first EP contains four badass songs capturing the mood of a dark and rainy day in autumn. The band from New Jersey definitely knows how to convince by perfectly combining crust and skramz. The lyrics are cryptic and perfectly match the music. Maybe this is wherein the beauty of Facility’s “the first four” lies.

“The seasons are changing, my fingers are branches. They break.
Does it make me a widow, if you're dead to me?”

Nurture - Posthumously b/w Pick Your Pocket

“Posthumously b/w Pick Your Pocket” is the fourth release of Georgia based screamo threepiece Nurture. The two songs on this EP were supposed to be released on a split. Due to unfortunate circumstances this project failed and the band decided to put out those tracks on bandcamp. Even if the running time of the EP is pretty short, you get a nice portion of screamo combined with some decent post-hardcore elements. Both songs include everything you could wish for. Go and listen to Nurture (the whole day through).

Chaviré - Démo

Chaviré is a diy emo punk band from Nantes, France. The five songs on their recently released Demo are so intense and angry, yet melodic, while the lyrics are characterized by a certain kind of bitterness. The whole Demo gets better with each listen. To put it straight, for me this is the best Demo in a long time and it definitely should be a contender for everyone’s end-of-the-year-list 2015. Chapeau, Chaviré! (Thanks Enguerran for sharing)

“Voilà ma subversion,
Voilà ma révolution.“

The Daydream Fit - Traveling

The Daydream Fit from Enschede, Netherlands is currently working on their second Extended Play. To bridge the time till then you can listen to their Single called “Traveling”. The band tag themselves as emotive postpunk and noiserock and I guess this fits well. But their very own bandname is the best description of their music. Those two songs on “Traveling” are dreamy and go straight to your ear. Can’t wait for the EP to come out.

“...and we will die behind each other’s eyes…”

Miriel Fëanor – Oceandrops EP

Miriel Fëanor are from Nitra, Slovakia. The screamo fourpiece was founded back in 2014 and comes up with one of the first releases this year. Oceandrops is their debut Extended Play and includes six tracks, containing some decent post-rock sound combined with hints of screamo. This one can be the perfect soundtrack for a long and dark winter.

Eros + Massacre/Coma Regalia split 8"

While Coma Regalia continuously producing split after split, this is only the second album of Madrids Eros + Massacre. Also released in the very beginning of 2015 the collaboration between both bands is a classy screamo split record. There will be a European release next month but if you don’t want to wait, you already can preorder the split via Indiana based label Middle-Man records.

Batièn - Frammenti del mio flusso che insieme sono un puzzle, divisi i continenti"

Batièn is a four-headed screamo collective from Bologna, Italy. They are probably the best band from Italy since Ojne conquered the stages. Their debut EP ”Frammenti del mio flusso che insieme sono un puzzle, divisi i continenti” won me over at the first listen. The Sound of the EP is passionate and makes me curious about what might come next. This is definitely an EP which would have made it into my end-of-the-year-list if I had discovered them earlier. Highly recommended.

Eaglehaslanded – rec"

The intro of the first song takes up the 8bit sound of “Bringing the pizza home“. Because of the artwork of the 2 song EP showing a floppy disc in the style of 80s video games, I thought the whole EP would take the same line as the 8 bit album. But, far from it! After 16 seconds the familiar Eaglehaslanded-sound bursts through. And this is exactly where the second song picks up. Those two tracks are hysteric, violent and so passionate.

“such a lovely family house,
let"s burn it to the ground.
leaving the ashes on our burnt bodies.
we only know about suffering.
the nightmare goes on and on.“

To be continued... FUCK, yes please!

I’m not really happy with this list.
I don’t feel that a list of 2014 releases would qualify reflecting what I liked this year. The most accurate list would be a mashup of the first 3 or 4 releases of my 2014 lists mixed with my “Albums listened to most” list. There are records from my past, some from more than 8 years ago, I recently dug up again. And quite a few records from last year I just started appreciating this year. Probably being abroad for longer caused me to hold on to something familiar. I can’t tell.
Hence, I am certain I will pick up and appreciate a lot of these year’s records during the course of 2015 (e.g. Wolves In The Throne Room, Downfall Of Gaia, Xerxes,…), albums I didn’t feel like listening to. Yet I’m thankful for being able to experience the music scene here in Singapore (Yumi, Sjanse, SiFulan, Wormrot, Daily Ritual) broadening my horizons.

There is something in the making, stay tuned.

Viva Belgrado

Flores, Carne (LP)

2014 has begotten a lot of fantastic music and as the year draws to an end, we can celebrate another superior release.

Viva, Viva Belgrado!

With Flores, Carne, the Spanish screamo collective from Cordoba delivers one of the most ambitious and most beautifully records of the current year. It contains ten wonderful tracks with atmospheric and beautiful melodies, alongside heartbreaking vocals. Every single one of them contributes to the special atmosphere, which constitutes the beauty of the record.

Viva Belgrado are leading you through excitingly varying soundscapes in which you can lose yourself easily. It’s the most striking reason why this record feels so rich in variety.

The LP includes cumbersome emo parts, as well as stormy and epic post rock riffs. The changing sound structures are combined with skramzy vocals. Whispered spoken word is mixed up with impetuous and heart-wrenching screams, sometimes reminding me of a Heaven in Her Arms and La Quiete.

Every song connects fluently to the next one, so that the whole album results in one overwhelming coherent piece of music.

The LP will be released on vinyl via several labels, including Koepfen Records, releasing also the Dearest/Wherebirdsmeettodie Split.

Crows-An-Wra

Kalopsia (LP)

“Kalopsia” is the debut full-length of Crows-An-Wra from Cornwall, which are according to the band “9 new tracks of spacey prog screamo”. The record has been released through a collaboration of five different labels.

The first thing, which occurred to me, is the artwork of the cover. Just like the foregone selftitled EP, the cover was created by Justin B Nelson and features a colorful abstract painting, whereat colors and shapes have a strong resemblance to those seen on the EP cover. One might think that it’s a cut-out from the demon of the EPs cover, showing a different perspective. I really like this idea.

The record starts with a one-minute long intro, which also is the title track of the album. “Perseus” connects fluently, capturing the sound of the intro. After a few seconds, spacy guitars and a mighty Bassline combined with vocals and drums take over, creating an atmosphere of departure. The next track on the LP “Vibrant Colours” starts off in a furious manner. Fast and distorted guitars shredding all the way until alternating screaming and spoken words break through the wall of sound. On to “Constraint In Secrets”. This one offers some spoken vocals too, flanked by frazzling guitars and driving drums while the follow-up “Dismay! The Seconds Slow” fascinates with Indie-ish melodies. The song “Heavy Heads” is characterized by beautiful female vocals, which are accompanied by the sound of an acoustic guitar. After two minutes, “Blossom” breaks through the calmness. Smashing drums and twinkling guitars relieving the lullaby-character of its forerunner. From now on female vocals and rough screams are combined to a beautiful chant, building the highlight on this amazing album. Although the last two tracks are easily overshadowed by the brilliant interplay of “Heavy Heads (i)” and “Blossom (ii)”, they mark a good closure to an overall beautiful sophomore full length album.

You better listen to “Kalopsia” if you haven’t already.

Form und Leere: Please introduce yourself and the band.
Hello. My name is Stefan, when I am introducing myself to people I always say that I am an artist, but not to be cool just by saying that, I really think that during my education years I have worked on many projects that include music, illustration, video, graphic design, advertisements and organization.

My band is a three piece depression cult which expresses music in different ways, never minding the genre or quality of sound. Things we carry out live are more important to us than on a record. So we decided to call it eaglehaslanded because it is a common saying for something big that is happening at the moment. We don’t believe that we are big; we just like to surprise all the people in the crowd with sincere emotions. We once heard Nirvana’s song “Tourette’s“ which first was called eaglehaslanded. The song says it all.

Form und Leere: A few months ago you played on the open stage at Fluff Fest. Describe your very own Fluff experience and which band did you enjoy most?
It was so good to see people that we met at Fluff during the last years, people we helped with shows in our hometown, people who helped us to release our first vinyl and people that we know for years. It’s like a big family which communicates and sees each other not that often, but we still manage to say hi and have a good laugh from time to time. For me it is the best thing in the world.
I really enjoyed Heaven In Her Arms, because I was into this band years ago. So finally I had the chance to see them live.

Form und Leere: You guys just came back from a tour with Expectations. Tell us something about your impressions.
The tour was so good, seeing all the people that we met earlier this year and made friends was the best thing. New cities, cultures and never ending roads with our dear friends in Expectations cannot be substituted with anything in the world. 16 days of playing, partying, hanging out with friends, eating, drinking and sleeping in different cities was our vacation for this year.

image

Form und Leere: Besides playing in Eaglehaslanded you are doing other creative work. What exactly are you doing? Tell us something about your former projects.
Well besides music I do graphic design (like the artwork for “Somnolence”*), video projects and illustration. Currently, I am also working on my clothing brand (Lapot ) with some of my friends. A lot of creative work, but on the other hand I am trying to organize shows, finish my master degree and find some decent job, haha.

Form und Leere: What are your favorite releases in 2014 so far? Any recommendations?
Well, actually I am not following the new releases that much, but the new records of Dearest, 52 Hertz and Deer In The Headlights are pretty good! Sickmark and Torso: thumbs up!

image

Form und Leere: While writing the review for your s/t ep I heard that you and your parents had to immigrate to Russia because of the war in Serbia. Can you tell us about that?
My parents got a job in St. Petersburg and we moved because of the political and economic situation in Yugoslavia during the 90’s. War and inflation forced people to find a better place to live, but some of them stayed. We lived there for several years and Nemanja was born there (in USSR).

Form und Leere: How would you describe your life in Russia? Did you take roots and how was it to leave the country to return to Serbia?
At first, life was pretty boring, because we didn’t know anyone from there, because we were too young. But in the end we started attending school, so we had company all the time. Winter, depression and cold world, haha.

Well, for me it was great, because we were tired of winter and all the troubles there with the job of our parents, so it was better to go home at that point.

Form und Leere: When did you and your brother return to Belgrade?
We returned in the end of 1998, just few months before NATO bombed Serbia, which sucks because our family was trying to avoid those situations that struck Serbia in the 90’s. So we returned again to Russia in 2005 for few more years and then we came back to Serbia for good. Now we live here, making music- not war.

Form und Leere: Did you ever experience military attacks by yourself?
Actually some military bases were nearby our house, so we were constantly afraid to be struck by some bombs. One time a helicopter landed nearby our house so we were scared to death, that it could be a NATO helicopter, but in the end it was a Serbian helicopter which was hiding from NATO. Not that good experience.

Form und Leere: Thinking about the future, what are your hopes and plans?I hope to meet more interesting people and places, progress with the music and art in generally.

Form und Leere: Thanks a lot for the interview and sharing your story.

Eaglehaslanded

S/T (EP)

„До свидания…отпусти меня летать…“

Eaglehaslanded is a screamo outfit from Serbia, which was founded in 2012.

The band’s singer Stefan Ćirić and the guitarist Djidji grew up in the surrounding region of Belgrade. As the country was shattered by the war, the Ćirić family immigrated to Russia, where Nemanja was born. After living there for several years, Stefan and Nemanja Ćirić finally returned to Belgrade.

The EP, which was released in June 2014 via Shivery Productions, is opened with a scenic intro called “Leaving The Church In Ashes“. It starts with the sound of three clattering empty bottles and after a few seconds a dark guitar riff and a manic voice drop in. This one sound pretty disturbing and spooky, borrowing samples from an old American movie (“The Warriors”).

The following song is capturing the mood of the intro and continuing in the same manner. The vocals are brutal and off the wall while bass and drums come swinging at you. The lyrics are quite depressive, describing the way you feel being caught in regrets and how it can change oneself. The next track „White City lies” begins calm and dreamy till harsh screams set in and the song gathers speed. Halfway through, Eaglehaslanded is slowing things down without losing any intensity. “Raul And Julia (Lizards And Queens)” connects perfectly. It is the beautiful interpretation of a farewell song that does without many words. The EP concludes with “Uvijek Sam Usamljen Ja”, an old Yugoslavian folk song, which makes way for the pushing vocals and the rough screamo sound.

In my eyes, European screamo is so exciting and vibrant as it has never been before. The new selftitled EP of Eaglehaslanded is definitely another proof for that.

“Don’t expect forgiveness from me, I’ve already buried your orchids underground my tears are so sour that my eyes burn, inhaling poison from your breath, I feel nothing. No words, only broken promises…”

Somnolence (EP)

“I have no idea where you are from or who you actually are.
But I guess you already have someone who is better than me.
And thats fine!”

Currently we all get flooded by a wave of new releases. 52 Hertz got in line and released their first EP called “Somnolence” a few days ago.

The EP begins with “Every Bruise Is A Hickey From The Universe.” Without wasting any time, the rough vocals of Heinzel start bursting in. Opposing the calm sound of guitar and drums the vocals begin to crack. As the song moves on towards the end, twinkling guitars and rolling drums swell to accompany the vocals. The lyrics are matching the emo melodies perfectly and topping of the start of “Somnolence”.

The follow-up, “Purr”, is a re-done of the band’s song “Curr” off their previous demo. In addition to a change of name the sound has changed as well. “Purr” sounds clearer and more sophisticated without losing its asperity, though. But one thing remained: this catchy song is fun and its melodies cheering up to sing along. “Kufte” also leaves nothing to be desired. Rough and clean vocals alternating while driving drums and playful guitar riffs arranging a beautiful song structure. The next song “Shyonara” is characterized by a moving bassline and the jazzy sound of the twinkling guitar which both move along till the end. The clean vocals of Mike fit in perfectly and just like the opening track of the EP, “Shyronara” features some classy emo lyrics. “Perfectly Unhappy” connects fluently. It might be my favorite on this brilliant debut EP. I really enjoyed this track from the very first second as the architecture of the song is so wonderful. Besides its complexity, “Perfectly Unhappy” can convince with smart changes of tempo and beautiful harmonies. The lyrics of the song are quite philosophical, capturing a quote by Dalai Lama and Nobel Peace Prize winner Tendzin Gyatsho.

“The purpose of our lives is to be happy.”

As “Somnolence” gets better and better with every listen, this EP should be part of everybody’s soundtrack for the summer.

The EP will be released via Shivery Productions, Don’t Shoot The Messenger, Tief in Marcellos Schuld and Flood Floorshows later this summer. It will be pressed on colored one sided 12’’ limited to 500 pieces and comes up with a B-Side screenprint.

Actually, the EP should be only available for streaming till the release on vinyl. Not until then, the name-your-price-download should be possible. Due to the absentmindedness of Heinzel, Mike and Gregor you already can download the EP for free.

Sun won't set (LP)

After a sensational Demo and an underappreciated EP, Shirokuma from Söderhamn, Sweden just released their debut full length “sun won’t set” on the UK label Dogknight Productions.

The lineup of the Brighton based Label is packed with great bands, such as We Came Out Like Tigers, Old Gray or You’ll Live. But for all that, there is no need to hide for the Swedish screamo fourpiece which was founded back in 2012. In my opinion Shirokuma ranks among the best European screamo bands these days.

“A Cloud Painted” opens the record with intensity and cryptic, ocean related lyrics. The next songs “Cold, Cold Hands” and “To Seek Out My Very Own Sun”, as well as “Okami” fit in seamlessly with the opening track, making up for an awesome start of the LP. „Four Rivers“ is probably the best track on the album. Architecture and arrangement of the track are just brilliant. After an atmospheric intro, the desperate vocals of Jonathan drop in, persisting in the background. But after a while, drums and vocals gather pace, building-up to a sweeping screamo hymn, which ends on a beautiful piano-solo. The poetic lyrics harmonize perfectly with the sad but beautiful soundscape.

“Sometimes we get lost,

Sometimes our lighthouse won’t shine,

Sometimes we have to say goodbye”

The next song on the LP ”Chiaroscuro” can convince with exciting drumming and smart changes of tempo. Cheerful guitar riffs alongside moving drums creating a perfect setting for the heart-piercing vocals. The followup, „Falling Leaves From A Dying Tree“, gives no chance to take a breath, ensuring, to keep the level of the previous songs. Lyrically, the Band is sticking to the point. The record culminates in the terrific “Blue circles turning black”. The second to last track starts with a bracing, indie-ish guitar riff and a sick drumline, which maintains till the end. Even when the lyrics are dark and pretty distraught, the band is able to create a sound full of hope and confidence. The song grows with every single second till it collides and turns into a powerful chorus. At the very end, Shirokuma are serving a calm and dreamy instrumental song, which tops this stellar record off perfectly.

“Lost by the sea

Tied back to back

Blue circles turning black”

In my eyes “Sun won’t set” is the most ambitious and focused release by Shirokuma and with 2014 halfway through, “Sun won’t set” clearly should be a contender for every end-of-the-year-list.

Human Hands

s/t (LP)

Human Hands is a Midland emo band that formed in 2010. Four years later, after several splits and a self-titled seven inch, they finally released their first long player. It took a while for them to finish the record, as Clyde, the guitarist of the band, moved from Birmingham, England to Reykjavik, Iceland. But after two and a half years of writing, recording and a short-time hiatus the result is overwhelming.

The record includes six well composed emo songs. Beautiful melodies are combined with vocals somewhere between spoken word and desperate screams, which reminds me strongly of Indian Summer. Human Hands definitely understand their business - every single moment of the record is carefully thought out. The lyrics of the LP are socio-critical, pondering and do not borrow the emo cliché.

The last track “without warning” is my personal highlight of the LP. The intro of the song starts with twinkling guitars, changing slowly over to a shredding sound, while the pulsating drums are creating an anxious and grasping atmosphere. After the 4-minute overture the cracking vocals of Chaz are crashing in. From this point onwards the vocals alternate between spoken word and screaming, while the music perfectly accentuates the desperate tune. You couldn’t have wished for a better final for this record.

Human Hands’ debut full-length is definitely one of the most exciting emo records you will hear in 2014. Highly recommended.

Kalmare Print (Interview)

15:07:00 0 Comments

We like to introduce you to an awesome DIY-project from Dresden, Germany, driven by Tina. For this purpose we asked her a few questions.

image

Form und Leere: Please introduce yourself and “Kalmare Print”. What exactly are you doing?
Hey, I´m Tina, 21 years old and I am living in Dresden. I’ve been listening to this kind of music for 6 years now. I love the diy-idea of the hardcore-/screamo-/emo-scene a lot and I wanted to do something for „the scene“ without playing in a band or organizing concerts. I just wanted to promote unknown bands as well as bands who broke up. So I started to print textiles (like patches, bags or shirts) and sew cases for tapes with my boyfriend. We keep our screens in the bathroom, print on the floor in the living room and sew on the dining table. It is not my intention to run a money making business with my passion. So I let people decide how much they want to give. I’m just a little helper of bands you want to get merch of.

Form und Leere: Tell us about the beginnings of Kalmare Print. What was the first Patch you ever made? How did this whole thing get started? It all began with Manku Kapak patches last October. They give a lot of love with their music and I really like every single song of them. So I asked them, if it would be okay to do some patches and they liked the idea. The patches didn’t look very well but other people loved them. For me it was a pleasure to give them away for free.

Form und Leere: Besides producing tons of patches, you also cooperated with Shivery Productions on their release of “I’m Alone in This” by Wherebirdsmeettodie. Kalmare Print did a beautiful screenprinted and sewed sleeve for the tape. How did this collaboration come of?I wrote some labels like Shivery Productions that I am interested in cooperation. The lovely Heinzel (from Shivery Productions) was flashed from the first moment and so the project got started. We are both very proud of the design. It’s definitely worth supporting this great band.

image

Form und Leere: What are your plans for Kalmare Print? In the future I want to show off a box with my patches at local festivals. So people can catch stuff of awesome bands I can recommend. Maybe some folks discover new bands. That would be great, I guess. At the moment I´m working on some really cool tapecases for Willy Fog (Harlekin Geisterpfeifenfisch) and Trachimbrod (A Collection Of Hidden Sketches).

image

Form und Leere: Tina, you have an impressive tape collection. How many tapes do you have and what is your favourite one? What do you find fascinating about the format of tapes? At the moment I have around 135 tapes and I really love every single one of them. So, the question about my favourite one is really difficult! One of my first tapes was WILLY FOG – the Birthday Tape. The demo tape of WE CAME OUT LIKE TIGERS is one of my rarest. One of the tapes I listen a lot to is Alienation by RAINMAKER and unidici/dodici of OJNE. At least, a tape I had to search a lot for was O - the sea of trees. Generally I love the fact that they are limited to 20-100 pieces.  Tapes give small bands the chance to release a demo without paying as much as for vinyl. And if you have a Walkman you can also listen to this physical format everywhere which reminds me of my childhood where I used to listen to tapes of the Backstreet Boys, haha.

Form und Leere: What are your favorite releases in 2014 so far? Any recommendations? You have to listen to the new Sport LP - „Bon Voyage“. I am really looking forward to their show in Dresden this summer. They will also play at this year’s Fluff Festival!  You also should have an ear on Human Hands. They released  a self-titled LP and an awesome split with Asthenia, Manku Kapak, Duct Hearts and Nebraska titled „my heart in your hand“. Last but not least I can recommend the Cuck Bass / VI SOM ÄLSKADE VARANDRA SA MYCKET – Split.

Form und Leere: Last question: What the heck are “butterbemmen”?It is the saxon word for „Stulle“ (Berlin), „Kniffte“ (Ruhrgebiet), “Bütterken” (Rheingebiet) … or just a slice of bread with butter.

52 Hertz

Nov. Demo 2013

52 Hertz is an emo three piece from Würzburg, Germany, which was founded in late 2013. The band, featuring members from Kapytaen and Folded Flags, released a promising demo including two songs on Shivery Productions earlier this year.

The sound of 52 Hertz is catchy and can be resided somewhere between Algernon Cadwallader and Sport. The rough and melancholic voices of both vocalists are combined to a powerful chant that gives their songs an individual note. While the vocals are accompanied by twinkling guitars and floating drums, the lyrics of the demo are dealing with the fear of losing close people, as well as being caught in the town you live, wasting life and being unsatisfied.

Even though they just released two songs, 52 Hertz already shared stage with TWIABP, Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate)! and Rainmaker among other great bands. Despite being a very recently formed band, their live performances do not fall short of their stage mates’ live quality as I could experience for myself. 52 Hertz find a great balance between a joyful sound creating a pleasant atmosphere and lyrics that speak of a generation’s fears, combining to a wonderful emo piece. You definitely should check them out if you have the chance to see them on one of their upcoming shows.

52 Hertz are currently recording songs for their forthcoming record which will be pressed on vinyl. In the meantime you can stream or download their demo on bandcamp.

Give them a listen or miss a good thing.

The Backbone of the Night (EP)

Science is made up of mistakes are three hombres from the capitol city of Spain, playing 90s inspired screamo in terms of bands like Saetia and Ampere. The band released their debut EP “The Backbone of the Night” in mid-march on bandcamp. There are no physical copies of the EP yet, but it will be released on cassette via the US DIY-label “Off Cloud Nine” later on.

The lyrics of the EP contain quotes from philosophers and scientists like Johannes Kepler or Edgar Allan Poe. The vocals of Lois are intense and so damn authentic. Not at least because he is literally screaming his heart out. At the same time the guitars create beautiful melodies, which perfectly emphasize the raw emotions of the distressed vocals.

The EP is well made and it gets better and better each time listening to it. You absolutely can hear that they rely on their experiences from their former projects like ¡Silencio, Ahora, Silencio! and Eros+Massacre.

You definitely should give them a listen.

Wherebirdsmeettodie

I’m Alone in This (EP)

Wherebirdsmeettodie is a screamo three piece from Uniontown, PA. On their debut EP “I’m Alone in This”, which is dedicated to the aggressively depressed, they’re combining heart-wrenching vocals with progressive, dreamy indie guitar riffs. At least since bands like Tiny Moving Parts, Old Gray or You’ll Live, who regained popularity of the Midwest screamo genre, we all know that this combination works quite well.

The lyrics of the EP are poetic and telling stories of pure heartache, nostalgia, lost love and depression. It’s hard to find a highlight song, as the 4 tracks of “I’m Alone in This” are building a beautiful oeuvre.

“Real stars explode, but our love will only fade.”

The EP, which was released on Driftwood Records, is already sold out, but you still have the chance to pick up the European version of the tape released by Shivery Productions. The cassette is limited to 50 copies and comes up with a screenprinted, handsewed sleeve made by Kalmare Print and a folded lyric sheet.

Two month after the european release Wherebirdsmeettodie put two new songs on their bandcamp, which will be released on a split with a german band, which will be announced officially later on. You can stream the new songs as well as “I’m Alone in This” on their bandcamp page. I’m really excited for the bands future and what will come next.
